Wogamo Development Agency

Creating Opportunities Through Community-Focused Initiatives

About Us
Wogamo Development Agency is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering sustainable development in Papua New Guinea. Through securing funding and implementing community-focused projects, we extend our reach to some of the most remote and isolated communities. By prioritizing solutions tailored to local needs, we aim to build resilience and enhance well-being for countless individuals.

Our Mission

Deliver effective programs that impact lives of marginalized populations and disadvantaged communities in PNG.

Our Vision

Advocate and partner with relevant stakeholders to improve delivery of basic services and address development challenges and priorities in marginalized communities.

Values

The values that make us different and special from others are what we are passionate about in all our work and operations: 1. Teamwork We see ourselves as one team and count on each other’s strengths and use them to fill gaps/weaknesses within the team to ensure our beneficiaries’ needs and demands are met satisfactorily. 2. Respect We show respect within our own team and our beneficiaries and the environment that we operate in. 3. Honesty We demonstrate honesty in all our dealings and engagements with our beneficiaries to ensure services and funds are used and delivered for that intended purpose and in a fair and transparent manner. 4. Quality To show that we care and strive to achieve the quality that our beneficiaries demand and expect while we meet and apply our own quality standards such as resources and personnel.

1. Eco-Tourism, Environment & Climate Change

Executing projects aiming towards promoting Eco-tourism & Hospitality, Environment Protection, Culture Conservation & Restoration, and preparedness and or prevention from the negative impacts of Climate Change esp Disaster such as drought, landslips, extreme wet weather conditions etc

2. Health, Water & Sanitation

Basic health services are very low esp in remote areas that we work, therefore we prioritize improved health outcomes for the people via advocacy and capacity strengthening of community level health systems. Our priority focus areas include (i) Water & Sanitation, (ii) Basic Health Care support and (iii) Local health systems capacity strengthening

3. Entrepreneurship Development (SME)

With our strong partnerships with grassroots community groups and agricultural cooperative societies in remote areas and their respective service providers in urban centers, we become a bridge to link their services for economic gains and sustainable growth via our capacity building and strengthening of grassroots entrepreneurs through SME Development Project SME Capacity Strengthening Project

4. Agriculture Development

Since most of our target communities are located in rural areas, we prioritize agricultural interventions as 99% of the populations build their livelihood around agriculture via Agriculture Development Initiative and increasing access to markets.

5. Transport Sector Improvement

Poor access to transportation services has been an hinderance to daily livelihood in these remote communities that we work therefore facilitating increased access to transportation is our key priority as basic government services will reach remote communities and also remote communities will transport agricultural produce out to markets in urban centers. We have started subsidizing air freight costs (only available means) for our coffee farmers in Gema, Yalia LLG in Obura Wonenara District of EHP and will continue to seek funding support to increase access for our people. Some of these communities are inaccessible by road.

6. Facilitating Improved Education Services

Facilitating access to improved education services (both formal and informal) continues to be a challenge in this remotest part of the country. It remains our priority to continue supporting via formal education basic facilities for students and staff and also literacy for adults as literate populations are better informed and can absorb information for improved livelihood. Sometimes our volunteer teachers make commitments to provide nutritional meals for children/students after classes as shown in the picture

7. Community Law and Order Investments

In remote communities where rule of law is weak and Police presence is non-existent; the only means is to strengthen the existing community justice systems. We are more focused on supporting in our little ways the traditional justice system and peace mediation processes to improve rule of law.
